Wanderluster

Villefranche-Sur-Mer

It started with a text which prompted an impromptu dinner coffee date, and ended with me drooling about this fabulous place. A place nestled between Nice and the Amalfi coast.

I had met a friend for a long over due coffee date at our mutual love of Maison Kayser. As a fellow coffee lover, yogi, and all around artist – him a singer/songwriter and I, a novelist and well I can hit play on my iPod – Conversation was a run away train going top speed.

The poor waitress didn’t even have a chance to get a word in edge wise.

As one topic flowed like a sun salutation from A to B, I asked him about my first love and obsession: Greece. As an extremely talented singer, he performed on Carnival Cruises for several years traveling around the world making me live vicariously through him.

He inundated me with stories about Santorini and made me lust after the men off Mykonos. He made me contemplate maybe, (big maybe) riding a donkey ah la Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and go on a sabbatical like in Eat Pray Love.

I was ready to book my ticket then and there.

And then knowing my love for France, he saved the best for dessert.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer.

A mouthful, but a salivating, let me pick my jaw up off the floor, and get there as soon as humanly possible.

A seaside town, with-in respectable traveling distance to Italy and Monaco, it is a mermaids dream. Brightly colored buildings are nestled in hills. The pictures resemble more of a Michelangelo painting, then an actual photograph.

The history, the quaintness, the vibrancy, it is this French lover’s dream!

How soon can I book my ticket?
